No 9 Fireman Peter Mann was the first on duty death for the new Edinburgh Fire Engine Establishment. He sustained the injuries that led to his death on the 26th of March when he slipped under the Fire Engine he was, most likely, holding back at the top of Dundas Street in the City whilst enroute to a fire at Warriston, and it ran over him.
