Originally an AFS member of the Willesden Fire Brigade,July 1939, becoming full-time on the outbreak of war. Transferred to Oxford Sept 1944. Call was a malicious false alarm. Moved to Oxford after losing his home due to bombing in Netherwood Street, Kilburn, London.
