Awarded the George Cross posthumously. Chief Fire Officer A Indoe also killed. A total of 13 people were killed by the explosion, involving Naval depth charges and other armament. Fire started in a lighter transferring depth charges which then spread to the Naval Armament Vessel, RFA Bedenham.
