Originally a member of the AFS, becoming a full-time member of Colne Valley Fire Brigade just prior to formation of the NFS. Accident whilst refuelling trailer pumps at work. Slaithewaite Fire Station. Slop-over from open buckets of petrol being used for re-fuelling, whilst carrying a hurricane lamp. Trailer pumps supplying water to Fletcher & Son Paper Mill during drought conditions.
