World War 1 air raid casualty. Direct hit on station. Knocked unconscious by the bomb but on regaining consciousness caried on to rescue woman from first floor of neighbouring building, then got hydrant to work to fight fire. Explosion ruptured ear drumAwarded Kings Police Medal for conspicuous bravery during the air raid. TB contracted in August 1917. Pension paid to widow.
