Awarded the Kings Policeand Fire Service Medal posthumously. Sub Officer G Henderson also killed. A total of 13 people were killed by the explosion, involving Naval depth charges and other armament.Fire started in a lighter transferring depth charges which then spread to the Naval Armament Vessel, RFA Bedenham.
